GLEE (Birmingham) & Landscape Show 2018 Reviews

Azpects have reviewed their experience at both GLEE (Birmingham) and Landscape Show 2018 as exhibitors

Revising the look of our product range is something Azpects has not done for some time. The last major revamp was in 2013 when we changed the look of the EASYJoint tubs, turning them from plain white tubs with stick-on labels to the current IML (In Mould Labeling) version.

But change is good and is needed in any business to keep up with evolving trends. In July, newly appointed Ben Wright (Azpects Garden Centre Development Manager), was tasked with creating a better route to market for our EASYCare range of products. His knowledge and expertise were soon realised when he produced a range of new bottles with colourful heat-wrapped bodies and a bespoke display unit to house them in.

The Azpects team had a new acronym to work with - FSDU (Free Standing Display Unit). This reinforced cardboard display unit which is fixed to a palletised base (for easy mobility), is colourful with plenty of advertising space.

The range was launched at GLEE, where we had new exhibition stands promoting the products and focusing attention on the new FSDU which held all seven products. The colourful, eye-catching design did a great job. Everyone we spoke to had only positive comments.

Garden Centre Buyers and along with many of our existing, mainly builders merchant customers, took a fancy to the new look bottles and the display module.

GLEE is trying hard to make their show better. There were more halls this year and some key speakers were on hand to drum up enthusiasm. Charlie Dimmock and our friend John Roberts from Landscaping Survival to name but two. We have already booked a stand for next year.

After three long days, we packed up the show and took it back to base ready to re-load it the following week, along with many of our more established EASY Products including the Joint, Seal, Scape and Repair ranges. This would complete our double stand at The Landscape Show 2018 in Battersea Park - London.

Landscape Show 2018

The Landscape Show just keeps getting better. This is undoubtedly the best place to show both new concepts alongside old-timers like EASYJoint.

Garden Centre Buyers, Garden Designers, Architects and Landscape Contractors all come to see the wonderful range of products on show. There is something for everyone - indoor and outdoor products, cleaning, replacing, repairing, designing or refining - it's all there.

Our two stands were cleverly ‘joined’ by using banners over the walkway between them. This gave us an additional display area that we used to link our new Garden Centre biased range which was exhibited on one side of the aisle to our more established products, including many of our Joint, Seal and Repair ranges.  Whilst there was interest as always in all of our products, it was the FSDU that stole the attention of most visitors.

Wednesday was by far the busiest day. The seminar rooms were always full with waves of people coming in and out. It was nice to spot Sir Bob Geldof taking a stroll around the show again.

At 5pm it was time to start packing up for another year. Relieving our sore feet and legs was welcome - it was nice to be going home, but tinged with a little sadness because we are like a big landscaping family at these shows, meeting up and enjoying the company of other like-minded people.

We are booked for next year and plans are already underway to make those stands better than ever before. Time for some younger blood to get involved too I feel.

‘till next time
